SHIRLEY DOREEN MARIE DERKSEN (nee HAMBLIN) Peacefully in her sleep, Shirley passed away on March 27, 2017. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dale (Tammy), Jeff (Carole) and grandchildren, Noah, Lucas, Olivia, Ethan, Jenna, and Alexis; sisters, Evelyn, Linda (Mac) and Beverley (Paul) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Lambert (Len) Derksen and parents, Edward and Martha Hamblin. Shirley was born in Winnipeg on July 6, 1943 and was raised in St. Jean, MB where she learned her great work ethic and values. She married Lambert (Len) on July 4, 1964 and they settled in Winnipeg where they raised their two incredible sons, Dale and Jeff. In spite of being busy raising a family, she operated a day care and established Shirley Dee's Promotions, which is a successful demo business that continues to thrive to this date. She had several passions in life. One being gardening, which she and Lambert won awards for their beautiful back yard. Another was cooking for family and friends as there was always too much food made and nobody went hungry. Her greatest passion and joy were her precious grandchildren. Gramma always planned fun activities and events. All of the grandchildren's milestones were celebrated. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to the Lung Association. seasonsfunerals.ca
