ELIZABETH BECENKO (nee MITOSINKA) 1923 - 2017 Mother passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. We were blessed to have her of sound mind, sense of humour and the ability to assist in cooking and baking our favourite dishes and pastries almost to the end of her many years. Mother was a strong, hardworking and determined woman. She owned and operated a couple of successful eateries in the city for a number of years. Bedford Lunch on McDermot Avenue in the Exchange when the area was a vibrant manufacturing and wholesale district and Betty's Kitchen in the North End. She leaves a legacy of kind heartedness, generosity and unselfishness to many! Elizabeth emigrated from Czechoslovakia with her parents and siblings in 1938. Elizabeth is survived by her sons Garry (Yolande) and their children, Evan (Sonia), Owen and Nolan (Chrystal). Twin sons, Edward and Christopher. Granddaughter, Annie Zornicki-Chisholm (Mark) and eight great-grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by dear family friends Beverly and Larry Downey. She was predeceased by her son Gregory Zornicki. A service will be held on Sunday April 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with reception to follow and an ash interment the following day.
