CAPTAIN (RET.) TERRY DAVID LAWRENCE August 17, 1934 - March 9, 2017 Born in Reading, Essex. England, beloved husband of Jane; father of Linda, Barbara (Thom), Donna (Walby Lawson) and Kevin. Grandad of Heather (Uhrich), Brian Lawrence, Brandon and Clayton Walby, Michael (Mikey) and Kristi Lawson, Benjamin (Ben) and Noah Lawrence and Dillon and Katie Ezerins. Great-Grandad to Ayden and Declyn Walby and Lillian Boxell. He loved Canada and passed his appreciation of the sights and treasures on to his family as we camped each summer from Nova Scotia to Vancouver Island and every province between, always coming home to Manitoba to visit family. At 17, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, rising in rank over his 37-year long career to retire in the rank of Captain in 1990. Many postings across Canada and numerous positions solidified our love for military life. With Jane, his final posting in 1978 to Winnipeg allowed him to reunite with his children & close family members. Among his passions were acting, painting, travel, (number one destination was Puerto Vallarta), motorcycles, any beach, and Old English Sheep dogs. With Jane, their 37 years of breeding Old English Sheep dogs was a living example of the relationship between humans and their dogs. More than a pet, the seven sheep dogs they raised over the years were family, and each life was cherished, and the loss deeply felt. With his quirky smile and offbeat sense of humour, he was a favourite Brother, Uncle and Friend to all. A member of the Branch 152 Legion, Dad will be honoured on Saturday, May 20. Interment at St. James Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m. with a Life Celebration "Come and Go Tea" to follow at the Leisure Centre in Foxwarren. Donations in Terry's memory are encouraged to: The Winnipeg Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We are grateful to both Russell (Dr.'s James Honiball and A. Almalki) and Brandon (ICU) Hospitals for the caring and dignified attention given to Terry in his last hours and for your quick decisions and considerable efforts. To G.P. Dr. (Wickus) Pieturse, Terry was comforted by your long association and confident in your ministrations. Thank you. Finally-Liz Finch- Paramedic, neighbour and friend, our deepest gratitude to you for working so hard to keep Terry on this side of the angels. No one could have done more. Terry/ Dad / Grandad: You taught us to love and appreciate life, to "Keep calm, and carry on." We will do our very best, but without your laughter and smiles, time's healing influence is greatly needed until we can bear to look back at our best memories of our days with you. Godspeed, our Beloved. www.seasonsfunerals.ca
