JOSEPHINE OLYNICK (nee DIAZ INFANTE) Peacefully on March 7, 2017 our mother Josephine passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on May 9, 1931, she moved to Lac du Bonnet, MB in 1961. She worked at Worona Bros. for 15 years. Josephine will be lovingly remembered by her children: Jessica (David Horky), and Peter; grandchildren Anissa, Alejandra, Ainsleigh, Kieran, and Spencer. She was predeceased by her brother Jose, and a sister who died in infancy. Josephine enjoyed many years travelling back to Mexico for the winter months. Her passion was making traditional Mexican dishes for her family and friends. Her salsa was second to none. She also became an accomplished borscht and holopchi maker. Josephine enjoyed celebrating life to the max. She especially looked forward to Folklorama. She had a tight circle of Mexican, and South American friends with whom she spent time with at outings and celebrations. Her greatest pride was for her grandchildren. She especially looked forward to celebrating their accomplishments and attending their various school functions, recitals, and sporting events. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care unit for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be on Friday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Rd., Father Renato Pasinato presiding. Donations may be made in Josephine's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Palliative Care Unit, St. Boniface Hospital.
