STELLA MATIATION We are sad to announce the passing of Stella Matiation on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 93 years of age. She is survived by her son Gene (Fran) Matiation, daughter Sylvia (Bill) Price, daughter-in-law Lori Matiation, grandchildren David Matiation, Ron (Chris) Matiation, Carisa Glesby, Jerry Matiation, and great-grandchildren Travis and Cory Matiation, and Shallon Stroud. Stella was born January 15, 1924 and attended Bird School. Mom was very good in spelling and she loved to be challenged. Stella married Michael October 26, 1940. They moved to Isabella, MB where they farmed for five years. After a move to Winnipeg, where they lived for one year, they purchased a hotel in St. Laurent where the family lived until 1958. They moved back to Winnipeg where Stella looked after many children in her home daycare. Stella loved gardening, cooking and entertaining and always had large family dinners. Stella and Mike loved their fishing trips with friends and family over the years. Travelling was also a great love of Stella's. We all have wonderful memories. Mom and Dad lived on Henderson Highway for 27 years, and then Mom moved to Donwood Manor in 2009. Stella participated in all the activities and enjoyed the Friday masses and luncheons. We are especially grateful to Doris and Arnie Wasilka for helping Mom so much in these last years. They were always there for her and we are so thankful. Stella lived a fulfilling life with all her friends and family. Stella loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and we know in our hearts she will continue to live through each of them. Service to be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. seasonsfunerals.ca
