FRANK GRABAR It is with love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frank Grabar, on May 27, 2017, at Vista Park Lodge. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Valerie Grabar, daughter Kim Kulak (Dan) and grandson Brendan, son Richard Grabar (Jolene) and granddaughter Emerson, daughter-in-law Jodi and twin granddaughters Cassidy and Kayley. Frank was born in Slovenia, and following immigration to Canada, became a dedicated employee and distinguished himself as a supervisor with Qualico and Kensington in the home building industry. He loved and took great pride in his work, and was never too busy to help family and friends. Frank's priority was his family, and worked endlessly to demonstrate his love and commitment to them. He was a dedicated and loyal son-in-law to his mother-in-law Auguste Falkenberg, visiting her daily during her many years in a personal care home. Frank especially enjoyed all his grandchildren and all the times spent with them. In recent years, he always looked forward to Cassidy and Kayley coming to see him at the care home, enjoying every minute of their visits. Frank was an avid Jets fan, but enjoyed watching all sports. Golf was a long term past time and he had trophies and plaques to acknowledge his successes. Most of all, he cherished the times he could share with family and friends at the lake in Gimli, always enjoying nature and the outdoors. Travel to see family and friends were an important part of life, and Frank so enjoyed and talked about all the times he and Valerie could spend not only with their Kim and Richard, but with relatives Valerie and Rod MacDonald, Aunt Elli, and Peter and Karen in Arizona and Kelowna. Frank's health suffered a serious setback in 2010, and he has received excellent care at supportive housing Rue Despins and more recently Vista Park Lodge, for which Valerie is truly grateful. A celebration of life to honour Frank will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 1311 Dakota Street at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017, with Deacon Kris Taylor presiding. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment at St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Alzheimer's Society or Faith Lutheran Church at officeadmin@faithlc.ca, 204-253-1491. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

My heartfelt condolences to Val and Kim and Richard and their children (and their significant others). I first met Frank in 1974 when he and I were attending classes together to Join Faith Lutheran Church . I immediately saw the good in this man, his gentle spirit, and his infinite love for Val and his children and grandchildren. I have always had a special spot in my heart for Frank. I so admired his love and support shown to Val's mother, Val and his children and grandchildren. He was a knowledgeable, hard-working person who put others ahead of himself. I worked with Val in the 1970's for awhile and then again starting in 1990 until 2010 so always felt a closeness to the Grabar family. RIP dear Frank..... I know you will be watching over your family with great love and care. - Posted by: Vee Adolf (Family friend) on: May 27, 2017
