Date of Passing: Jun 08, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER LOGIE Peacefully, with his brothers at his side, Alex passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 62 years of age. He shall be remembered by brothers Bruce, James and Thomas, as well as his cousins Betty and Merle of Manitoba, and Gail of Ottawa. He was very happy to meet with Betty and Gail before his poor health required extensive hospitalization to the present. Alex was predeceased by his father Grenfall (1990), and Florence (2013). Alex was born in Winnipeg on May 2, 1955 and was raised in St. Vital. In his childhood and teens, Alex, otherwise known as "Sandy", had a gift for getting new subscribers for his newspaper route and as a prize, he won a trip to the World's Fair in San Antonio. He was adventurous and explored Winnipeg's bus routes to the ends of their lines. He also enjoyed bicycling and going on rides out of the city. At the age of 16, he purchased his first motorcycle, a 100cc Honda CL. That became the start of his long association with motorcycles. After high school (Dakota Collegiate), he worked for a number of companies before joining Rothsay as a truck driver. He remained in this capacity, making friends with his co-workers and clients, until leaving the company for health reasons in 2008. Alex always enjoyed being with family members and close friends. He loved camping, fishing, and of course, BBQ's over the years. He was a peaceful person, with at times a very quiet demeanor. Alex was more than willing to listen to the experiences and stories of others around him, adding his insight at the right moment. Everyone who knew him can recall a special experience with him. Alex liked local professional sports and would watch and follow the Bombers and the Jets games when he could. For his own personal fitness, he tried weight lifting, curling, bicycling and even tried his hand in downhill skiing. This led to a few moments that will live on in memory. At Alex's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private interment will be held at St. Vital Cemetery at a later date. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff involved from the Concordia and St. Boniface Hospitals. A special thanks to Dr. Park, Dr. Ormiston, and Dr. Gregoryanz. We would also like to thank all the friends and family. If anyone should desire, provide a donation to one of: Concordia Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Schizophrenia Society of Manitoba, or any other charity of your choice. "As this final chapter comes to it's conclusion, we will remember tomorrow is a new day." Thank you Alexander, we will meet again... No more voices...Rest in Peace...
