PO KING YEE February 24, 1926 - June 16, 2017 Our dear mom, Po King Yee (nee Tang), with family by her side, passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the age of 91 years. Her sudden death was painful to her family, relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 70 years, Gam Foo; oldest son Chu Kong (Garland), daughter-in-law Man Tsu (Linda) and grandchildren, Laura and Christopher; second son Shing Yuen (James), daughter-in-law Suk Yee and granddaughters, Carmen and Monica; third son Shing Lee (Nelson), daughter-in-law Lin and grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason and Victoria; youngest son Shing Man (Norman), daughter-in-law Angie and grandsons, Andrew and Anthony; oldest daughter Kam Hun (Donna), son-in-law Fat Chiu (James) Chan, grandson Erastus, his wife Linda, grandson Ebenezer, his wife Grace and great-granddaughters, Gabrielle and Kyla, granddaughter Eleana, her husband Albert and great-granddaughters, Jayde and Jasmin, grandson Eleazar and his wife Angela; youngest daughter Hun Heung (Kitty), son-in-law Yuming (Ken) Ho and granddaughter Michelle. She was born in Hoiping, Mainland China on February 24, 1926. She and Dad married in Toishan in 1947 and moved their family to Hong Kong in 1955. Despite their financial hardship, she was a very capable wife and devoted mother to all of us. She helped Dad to run the family business of manufacturing guitars until 1975. Our entire family immigrated to Winnipeg between 1973 and 1975 with the help of Donna and James' sponsorship. Although Mom retired from the work force after she moved to Winnipeg, she continued to take care of us at home and we were fortunate that she enjoyed cooking our favourite meals. Her endless passion for good food never ceased. Mom was a very giving and generous person. She helped out the less fortunate since she was a young girl. She was not afraid of authority and power as long as she believed justice needed to be served. She believed "knowledge is essence to success" and gave us good education if and when she could afford it. Mom, we are grateful for all your lifelong support and nurturing. You have taught us to enjoy food, see the humour in life, and give to others in need. We are forever indebted to you. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with viewing at 10:45 a.m. at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Winnipeg or charity of your choice.
