ELIZABETH LEWIS It is with heavy hearts, that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Lewis, at the age of 95 years. Bette was predeceased by her devoted husband Bill, and sister, Wynn and many cherished friends. Bette will be deeply missed by her sons, Richard (Barbara), David (Olwyn); granddaughters, Carlee and Nikki, Kaitlyn and Keelyn; and great-grandson, Chase. Bette was born Elizabeth Agnes Stanners on April 4, 1922, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was a very proud graduate of Kelvin High School, going on to college before beginning work at the Manitoba Liquor Commission, where she met Bill. She then went on to work at Great West Life Company on Lombard Avenue. After her sons were born, Bette began working as a school secretary at Frontenac School in the St. Boniface School Division, so she could spend more time with them, and she never missed a day being home for lunch. She retired after 30 years of dedicated service and began spending winters in Mesa, Arizona with Bill and their many friends. Bette treasured her grandchildren, spending countless hours knitting sweaters, toques and scarves for them, and attending their numerous activities. Bette was an avid reader, a keen Bridge player and loved to do crossword puzzles, a past-time she would continue to enjoy with her granddaughters. While Bette could be serious and proper, she had a wonderful sense of humour and endless witticisms that made her granddaughters giggle, "Grandma, you shouldn't say that!" A private interment will take place in the family niche at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bette's memory to JDRF or the Alzheimer's Society. Family and friends wishing may sign a book of condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
