Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILIP SEDDON September 9, 1930 - July 4, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phil Seddon on July 4 at the age of 86. Dad leaves us to join his loving wife of 63 years, June Seddon. He was also predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Seddon, as well as his siblings, Bruce and Winnifred. Left to mourn his memory are his children, Heather Seddon (Bob), Brian Seddon (Audrey), Cindy Seddon (Pat) and Barry Seddon (Cindy), his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by his siblings, Harold, Frank, Harvey, Teddy, and Elaine. Dad was born in Tenby, Manitoba on his grandfather's farm. He was raised in a family of farmers but went on to pursue a decades-long career with CP Rail, during which time he developed many lasting friendships. Dad and Mom could often be found on the rink at St. Vital Curling Club, where they enjoyed many bonspiels, club dinners, and other social events. Dad proudly coached our hockey and baseball teams, and spent summers at Longbow Lake teaching his grandchildren how to fish. His exceptional generosity was recognized in 2002 by the Manitoba Legislative Assembly, when he and his brother donated a portion of their inherited farmland as a natural habitat for the preservation of Manitoba wildlife. Dad will be fondly remembered for his remarkable kindness and his subtle sense of humour. Though a man of few words, he always had a way of capturing peoples' attention and making himself heard. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Dad spent much of the past decade caring for his wife and loyally visiting her every day when she could no longer live at home. This is also when he perfected his carrot cake and butter tart recipes. We take comfort knowing that Dad left this life the same way he lived it: with dignity and with courage. We would like to thank the staff on the 8th floor at St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care Dad received. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In the final words of Dad himself: "Well, it's been a hoot!" Family and friends wishing may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
