Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) GRAY GILL October 14, 1930 - July 21, 2017 Peacefully at Meadowood Manor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Robert (Bob) Gray Gill passed away on Friday morning, July 21, 2017 at the age of 86. Bob was born in Riverbend, Quebec on October 14, 1930 to Robert Gray and Mary Elizabeth Gill. Bob will be greatly missed by his three daughters, Gloria McNabb (Wayne), Diane Jankiewicz (Mike) and Brenda Frank (Robert), his five grandchildren, Sharlene McBride (Dustin), Chris McNabb (Colleen), Ryan Jankiewicz (Vanessa), Roxanne Chance and Kimberley Manchur (Kris), two great-grandchildren, Brennan McBride and Nicholas Manchur, and family members in British Columbia and England. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Eila, his parents, Robert and Mary, his two brothers, John Davidson Gill (Jackie) and William Gill, and his sister-in-law Dorothy Gill. Bob was born in Riverbend and moved to Montreal in his teens. He married Eila Sahlstrom in 1951. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1966. Robert was an athletic person and enjoyed sports. Once in Winnipeg, Bob participated in golfing, and curling. Bob golfed at Elmhurst and River Oaks golf clubs and curled in various leagues and clubs in the city. Bob also enjoyed running and ice skating. Bob was employed by the Canadian National Railway starting in July 1947 and retiring at age 55, in January 1986, as a Pricing Officer in the Marketing-Pricing Department after 38 and a half years of service. After retiring, Bob volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the CN Pensioners Association of Manitoba and the Manitoba Golf Association (Golf Manitoba). The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the wonderful care Bob received at Meadowood Manor and previously at Riverview Geriatric Rehabilitation and Victoria General Hospital. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, August 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. in Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined.
