Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • I could go on forever to talk about my grandfather Patrick Sweeney. I'm his first grandson Matthieu. The kindness and joy he gave me I cannot put in words. He was a man of others, he put everyone before him it wouldn't matter if it was a stranger or family. He cared for everyone. I have memories of him playing soccer at the park at a young age, driving me to practice for hockey and soccer. He was there all the time. the life lessons and wisdom he taught me will never forgotten. He's a man of others since he was a child. He's with me in spirit in every moment of my life. He built a life out of nothing and every moment I spent with him he shared his wisdom and love. He was to good for this earth. He was sent to look over us. He's an Angel protecting the good. I love you Pappy. - Posted by: Matt (Grandson ) on: Oct 16, 2021

  • I was quite shy to work in a new department at first back then. When I first met Patrick I felt at home with his caring and funny character. I remember I had trouble with understanding his accent, especially when he talked fast, lol. He was full of life and light. It sounds like he had a very good life. My dad also passed last May in 2018. My sympathy and understanding go out to everyone especially Patrick's family. Rest in peace, a life well lived. - Posted by: Colleen (Co-worker) on: Mar 07, 2019

  • We are so sorry to hear of Patrick's passing. Unfortunately we were unable to attend his service. We will always remember his great wit. He was a great source of help when Dora was searching for an eye care professional after our move from the west coast to Winnipeg. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ann and family at this sad time. Love to you all. Gary & Dora - Posted by: Gary & Dora Wile (Friends) on: Aug 25, 2017

  • Patrick was an outstanding Head Nurse and advocate for the Nursing Profession. He never hesitated to tell you what was on his mind, and I very much appreciated his candor. And yes, he had a great sense of humour. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Ted Bartman (Former CEO Misericordia Health Centre) on: Aug 22, 2017

  • I will always remember Pat with a sincere and mischievous smile on his face. Mostly because he was usually up to something to make people laugh and drive Anne crazy while on Southmoor Road. I remember him and Anne in the front yard helping Jack Armstrong and Pat teasing Anne about how he had the bigger muscles. Anne told him to get back to work and it was only for a moment but those sky blue eyes charmed his way to make Anne laugh. My thoughts are with you Anne, Patrick, and Mary. - Posted by: Noni Kopczewski (Bodnar) () on: Aug 22, 2017

  • What can one say about a man who seemed larger than life itself. It was an amazing experience and great honor to have worked with Patrick. He had a genuine love for all peoples, as this was quite evident in his role of Nurse Manager. His staff adored and respected him. Patrick had this ability to make even the most stressful days seem tolerable, simply by staying calm and injecting a healthy dose of humour into the situation. I will miss him dearly. To the family of Patrick Sweeney, I offer you my sincerest condolences. God Bless You. - Posted by: Tina and John Gawron (Co-worker From Misericordia Hospital) on: Aug 19, 2017
