LAWRENCE CALVIN RAYNER February 5, 1923 - September 5, 2017 Proud Canadian, Second World War Veteran (Pilot Officer, 179 Squadron of the RAF) After a long and well lived life, in his 94th year, Larry passed away at Victoria Hospital, after a difficult struggle with Alzheimer. Predeceased by his three brothers. Beloved husband of Frances, of 72 years, whom he met and married in St. Eval, Cornwall, England on June 25, 1945. Loving and devoted father to Dale (Robert), Judy (Tom), David (Nettie) and Michael (Tracy). Much cherished grandfather to Richard, Chris, Nicole, Alex, Desiree, Justin, Crystal, Troy, Scott, Damen and Samantha, and a lovingly remembered great-grandfather to numerous great-grandchildren. After the war in 1945, back in Canada, Larry went back to school to finish his university entrance. In May 1946 Frances came to Canada from England and they settled in Saskatoon, SK. For five years Larry went to university and received his Bachelor of Science of Agriculture degree and his Bachelor of Commerce degree. Larry's working career includes being an accountant with an oil company in Calgary; as a management consultant with the Government of Saskatchewan; and marketing research and program management with Agriculture Canada which included the position of Crop Insurance in Ottawa and Director of Economics branch of the Canadian Grain Commission in Winnipeg. Larry retired in 1980. Larry loved to golf, fish, hunt and go camping with his family. His skills included fixing cars, woodworking, building and repairing anything that came his way. Larry meant so much to so many and will be remembered for his spirit, positive attitude, and amazing memory and interesting sense of humour and adventurous outlook on life. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held September 13. For those who wish, a donation in his memory, may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
