Date of Passing: Sep 24, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY JAMES KUBE March 30, 1944 - September 24, 2017 Peacefully, with family at his side, Harry Kube passed away at St. Norbert Personal Care Home the morning of September 24, 2017. Harry is survived by his children Wendy (Kelly) and Michael; grandchildren Brianna, Haylie, Morgan and Audrey; sister Eddie (Jake), brother Gordon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; partner Shelley, her daughter Megan; grandchild Sophia. He was predeceased by parents Edward and Annie Kube, and brothers Albert and Walter. Dad was one of the lucky few who could say they chased and achieved their dreams in life. Early on he discovered his passion for Thoroughbreds and worked his way up through the many facets of the industry before striking out successfully on his own with Green Oak Stable. He was a respected member of the Assiniboia Downs (ASD) community serving as president of The Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association of Manitoba (HBPA) for many years. The pride he took in his stable earned him a multitude of barn awards and his success on the track allowed him the opportunity to become an owner as well as trainer. His stable of 'ponies' was his love and passion for 30 years, until his health forced him to retire. We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Norbert for their care of Dad these last four plus years and for making his last two weeks as comfortable as possible. As per Harry's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. His ashes will be spread by his children at a later date in the location of his choosing. 'In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken; you fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping, so peacefully free from pain, we could not wish you back to suffer that again.' Dad, you were always my hero. The man that could do anything he put his mind to. I feel blessed to have had you in my life, to be lucky enough to get to call you dad. The hole that has been left in me is deep but every day I am trying to fill it with good memories, knowing you are finally at peace. My condolences to Harry's family. I worked with Harry at the HBPA. He was always willing to help with promoting the industry through barn tours etc. He always carried a smile on his face. He thoroughly enjoyed his passion-the horses. He was missed when illness overtook him . May all the treasured memories be of some comfort in this time of grief. - Posted by: Hazel Bochinski (friend at Assiniboia Downs) on: Sep 30, 2017

Harry was a wonderful trainer,He trained for K-5 Stable for many years. One of his favorite horses was Sir Pucker and he was a Stakes horse who won many races for Harry and Mr Phil Kives.. He loved his horses and his barn was spotless and very tidy. His horses came first as i'm sure they were his Passion.. After Harry left the track it was not the same-He always had a smile and enjoyed watching his horses trained and race.. My condolences to his family.. Harry will be riding high in the sky with some of his beloved horses he trained.. - Posted by: Leona Stahl (Horse Racing Friend) on: Sep 30, 2017
