Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL VERNON NORLEN June 10, 1962 - September 30, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce the unexpected passing our beloved husband and dad, papa, brother, brother-in law, uncle and friend Mike Norlen. Left behind to deeply mourn his loss, the love of his life and devoted wife of 33 years, Vera; his children, Brian, Adam and Bethany (Dustin); grandchildren, Charlie, Robyn and Andrew; extended family and supportive friends. We find comfort in knowing he is surrounded by love, as he was, predeceased by his parents and his sister Mira. Mike loved interacting with people and his many customers, as the owner and operator of Midwest Carpet Cleaning. His family and friends were the world to him and this was evident in his love for many family celebrations. He had many activities that kept him always on the go such as, wine making, watch collecting, food sampling at many restaurants, scuba diving and cruises. One activity that he cherished above all was his worship of the Lord. Mike loved to make people laugh with his jokes, entertained them with his imitations of Elvis and was a very generous and giving man to all that he encountered. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Kilcona Alliance Church, 1977 Norris Road. The service will be officiated by Pastor Bruce. Viewing will take place prior to service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The family has special thanks to Jason and the dive team at Blue Oasis for their immediate action, the local emergency response team and the generous support from friends Jamie, Aline and Jean. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to Diabetes Canada. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Sorry Vera, miss hanging out at your house, you guys had a big Basement and Cute Dogs. Just heard, never knew he passed last year. Feels like yesterday me and Adam were cruising in his Midwest Carpet Van and going to see you work at the grocery store. Sorry for your loss, praying for your family. - Posted by: Dean Shangreaux (Son’s Friend ) on: Dec 18, 2018

I was very sad to read about Michael's passing. I knew Michael for many years as he was our first call whenever there was a need for his professional services in any of our seniors' residences in St. James and in Tuxedo. We all watched as Michael's respectful customer service ethic and his consistent conscientious work grew his business and his business relationships. It was a pleasure to have known this gentleman. My sincere sympathy to all of Michael's family. Respectfully, Heather Mutcheson - Posted by: Heather Mutcheson (business associate - seniors assisted living residences) on: Oct 06, 2017

I remember everything about Michael. He was my sister Dawn's age but 6 years older then me. We did what normal kids did back in those days. Swam, played sports, merry go round rides (Michael always made it go too fast) My sadder memory is the day Michael moved away. Sure we'd meet again but to a child someday was forever. God bless you my friend. May you be at peace. Your time was short but you left your mark. I'll always remember you. - Posted by: Susan peters (Neighbour on castle since we were teeny kids ) on: Oct 06, 2017
