RONALD GEORGE BEEKENKAMP
Date of Passing: Oct 19, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD GEORGE BEEKENKAMP Ron passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Left to cherish Ron's memory are his wife Donna; sons Brent (Mabel) and Warren (Sherri-Lynne); brother Jim (Pat); as well as precious grandchildren Brandon and Samantha. Also surviving Ron are sister-in-law Joanne; nieces Sara, Karen and Wendy and nephew Ken along with their families and special family friend Damian. He was predeceased by parents Peter and Beatrice, brother Gerry and sister-in-law Doreen. Born in Winnipeg, Ron was raised by his parents on River Road in St. Andrews where he had many adventures and experiences on the homestead picking vegetables and swimming in the Red River. After moving to East Kildonan in 1955, Ron finished his schooling and briefly worked at Toronto General Trust where he met Donna. He then decided to go into construction and became a Journeyman Carpenter. Always a gentleman, Ron had a kindness and gentleness about him. He loved all animals but especially the family dogs. He enjoyed dinner with the family where he showed his deep appreciation for good food followed by a "little shut eye". Ron's passion was rebuilding their cottage while maintaining its heritage. He was meticulous and lovingly created unique designs on each wall. Ron had a natural gift for taking a piece of old wood and bringing it back to life as a thing of beauty. He also put that same creativity into decorating the holiday cookies. Ron reveled in coaching Brent and Warren in hockey and soccer, watching his grandchildren's ringette and hockey and playing family games late into the night. He was an avid bowler, Jets fan, and along with Donna, a proud 53 year Bomber Season Ticket Holder. Family golf day memories will always be treasured. Although Ron will be sorely missed, he will fondly and forever be in our minds and our hearts. In keeping with Ron's wishes, no service will be held. A special thanks to Dr. A. Schroeder and Kathy; Cancer Navigation Services and Palliative Care Staff. Your kindness and caring were immeasurable in making this time easier. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Winnipeg Ostomy Association, #204 - 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1M5 or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
