JEANNETTE REUTCKY (nee HORECZY) September 12, 1940 - September 30, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Jeannette on September 30, 2017 in North Vancouver, BC. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Karen, son-in-law John Conicella, brother Alan, niece Paula (Phil Weekes), nephew Grant (Melissa), brother-in-law Terry, and many cousins and friends of the extended families. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Anna and her husband Boris. Jeannette was born in Shortdale, MB where she attended primary school. Her daily walk to school was two miles each way, even during the bitter cold prairie winters. With her cousin Vicky they would bravely leave Shortdale to attend high school in Winnipeg, MB. After marrying Boris and brief stops running their own business in Oakbank MB, and Hodgson MB, they would return to Winnipeg. Jeannette spent many years working as an accounting clerk. She worked for James Richardson & Sons, Robinson Little, Centra Gas and Petro-Canada in Winnipeg and Calgary. She and Boris retired in Courtenay, BC. She would ultimately reunite with her daughter in Vancouver, BC. Jeannette was always extremely peaceful, warm and kind. She shared a special relationship with her daughter that went well beyond mother-daughter. She enjoyed the many large family get togethers and the kitchen bustle of cooking the dinners. Her delicate perogies and sumptuous deserts were extraordinary. Although a small town, country girl at heart, she was always well dressed and fashion conscious. Nothing put a quick smile on her face like shopping for a glittery, new outfit, a pair of shoes or a handbag. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Lynn Valley Care Centre for their compassionate care during her stay. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., in Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
