Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCISCA (KAY) TUNGCUL It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our dear friend, aunt and Lola, Francisca (Kay) Tungcul on December 16, 2017, at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 91. Kay was born in the Philippines on September 17, 1926. Kay graduated from the Philippine Normal School, Arellano University then taught at Cubao Elementary School as a math teacher. Kay arrived in Canada in August 1967 with her best friend, Vespertina Battad, to teach at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Alberta. She graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Education degrees. Kay taught for 22 years in Roblin and Gilbert Plains. She retired from teaching in June 1989. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Manitoba and Timpuyog ti Ilocano dioy Manitoba. Kay was a loving, caring person who loved to travel with Tina to Europe, United States, and the Philippines. Kay was an avid bowler, fisher and gardener and loved to drive her Jeep around. Kay and Tina often attended parties or played Mah-jong with their friends or spent time at the casinos (in Winnipeg or Las Vegas). She was a loving friend to Tina, a wonderful aunt to her nieces and nephews, and biggest supporter of her grandnieces whom she loved dearly. Kay leaves behind her best friend, Tina; her nieces, Lourdes (Marilou) de Castro and Josephine Tungcul; her grandnieces, Jennifer (Tommy Nguyen) and Sheena (Rolly Farinas); great-grandchildren, Ethan, Arianna, and her newest great-grandchild, Asher Reed; as well as her numerous family in the Philippines. Kay also leaves behind her extended Battad family - Ryxie (Bert Dupas), Narres John (Raquel), Anthony (Gisele), along with their children, and Eva Battad. Kay was predeceased by her father, mother, two brothers and one sister, as well as her nephew-in-law, Virgilio de Castro. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care of Kay. Tita/Lola Kay, we just want to say, "we love you, we forgive you, and please forgive us". We miss you very much but we know we will meet again in Heaven. Prayers (Lamay) will be on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Parish on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. The interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens at 2:15 p.m., reception to follow at Glen Lawn Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Siloam Mission.
