Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Spent many good times with Don, my sons, Dave and Mac Corbett hunting in the Turtle Mountains and had a real good visit with Don last spring, when he was out to visit Thelma Corbett. We met and had coffee uptown ( Deloraine ) want to send my condolences to Don's family at this time of loss. Cherish your memories. Sincerely Duncan and Linda, David and Brad Mills - Posted by: Duncan Mills (Hunting friend from Mac Corbett Goodlands ) on: Feb 01, 2018

  • I am sad to hear of Don's passing. I had been looking forward to having wonderful visits with Don in Victoria again this year. Don and Fran came into my life years ago when I was researching family history. They were such a lovely couple and introduced me to many of my father's surviving cousins, opening up the doors to many family stories that I treasure. Don and my father John Fowle were first cousins, their mothers being sisters. I am so glad that I got to know them both and will miss them very much. • I will miss our talks. Not sure how but it always turned to fishing. Our times together were few but will always be held in a special place in both Jennys and my hearts. We will miss him but knowing he is now with Fran makes it a little easier. Our thoughts go with the family during this sad time. • As Uncle Don has now also passed we can again reflect on on another life history and family so much revered. I believe family was everything to Uncle Don and I am sure his actions and character demonstrated that throughout his life. Uncle Don and Fran were always so interested to visit with friends and family. They made trips to Kingston many times to visit our late Mother Ruth just after our Father and Dons brother George passed away. Don made a point of connecting with me (Jeff) and my brother Chris for golf or fishing or both on occasions....perhaps to be sure he knew us and we knew him. We are thankful for the opportunity to have known Uncle Don. He was a true gentleman in every manner and was well deserving of our respect and love from our entire side of the family and more than likely from all who knew Don. We will miss Uncle Don very much and he will often be in our thoughts and conversation. We are also sure he is now just as happy to be reunited with Fran and his family who have also passed and he will be greeted with love and honour by all. Apparently the golf courses where he has gone are free and "out of this world" in great playing shape. The fishing is abundant and they are all minimum 10 pounds and a full arms-length long....no lie. The boat never breaks down and gas is also free. The sun shines bright all day with little chance of rain and the temperature is always balmy. Shorts and tee-shirt weather! Please say hello to all for us Don and drive just a little faster than normal since we understand that traffic is very light there and the lights are always green. - Posted by: Jeff McMillan (Nephew) on: Dec 31, 2017

  • What shocking news. Don was a man of many talents and was very articulate. He was very proud of his family and their achievements. Always spoke highly of them. We enjoyed many suppers at Rae & Jerry's, Maxime's and home cooked meals with Don & Fran. He enjoyed fishing and was always looking for an opportunity to take you fishing when they had the cabin at Camp Lake. Also, fishing on Raleigh Lake at Cobblestone, going out to the island he named Miami Beach. Made the best pancakes, ever. We will miss our conversations with him,as he could share his thoughts on any topic. He was special and we will miss him. • Don and Fran were married one month before us...it was a shock to hear that Don passed away. I talked to him at end of Sept I think it was and he told me how healthy he was. My deepest sympathies to his family - Posted by: marlean korlak (sister in law) on: Dec 24, 2017

  • We met Don through mutual friends Bob and Pat Porth. We spent many hours at Cobblestone sharing wine and stories about fishing and good memories of times spent in the area. Don was a great story teller but also a great listener. We never tired of spending time with him. His zest for life was contagious. We will miss him. - Posted by: Dan & Karen Ruppel (Friend) on: Dec 23, 2017
