Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDARRELL CLINTON FRANCIS It is with heavy hearts that the family announces Darrell's sudden passing on Monday, December 18, 2017, at the age of 60. He will be deeply missed by his children, son Clinton and his daughter Leah of Edmonton; mother Violet; sister Cheryl (Claude) Lambert; brother Todd (Michelle). Nephew Matt (Jen) Lambert and niece Alyssa (Brad) Wowchuk. Darrell was predeceased by his father Clinton. Darrell was born in Winnipeg on October 30, 1957 and grew up in Fort Garry. He had a long and accomplished career with CN Rail. Darrell's work and love of golf took him to many parts of the world. There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday December, 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Norwood Hotel, 112 Marion St, Winnipeg. Darrell will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. I was deeply saddened to find this. We were friends growing up in Fort Garry, we would ride our motorcycles till the sun came up, the stories I could tell. lol Darrell was the best man at my wedding. My condolences to his family. Rest easy my old friend. - Posted by: Don B (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2025

From the moment I met Darrell he made me laugh even though it was -42C on the tracks. Called himself the 2”er because that’s how far he had to roll down his window to yell to us. I enjoyed working along side Darrell at CN and then working with him in a supplier/customer environment after I retired from CN. His sense of humour always kept me laughing and his business knowledge was top notch. One of the best memories was Darrell and his kids joined with my family for a Fourth of July a few years back. He brought an entire arsenal of fireworks or "dynamite" as he referred to it! We launched many of the stuffed toys that my kids and dogs enjoyed over the years. He did like to blow things up! I was saddened to hear of Darrell's passing at such a young age. Darrell and I got to know one another in the early 1980s while working at CN Rail. During this time we both resided in Edmonton, Alberta working various different positions within our careers. Eventually we ended up working together in similar positions which we spent quite a bit of time on the road working within Alberta, B.C. and Sask. When we did work around Edmonton we spent time playing ball together within a CN league as well as golf. I really enjoyed his company and his quick wit! There was never a time we would not be found laughing over various different things we observed or encountered during our times together. Bottom line, we always had so much fun whether at work or personal life. I will miss you Darrell and hope your on the 19th hole having a scotch, enjoying a smooth cigar and talking about that 20 ft. putt you drained on the 18th hole. Rest In Peace D.C.F.
