REV. FATHER RENATO PASINATO May 18, 1947 December 23, 2017 It is with joyful sadness that we give back to our God the gift of Fr. Renato Antonio Pasinato. He now enjoys the Messianic Banquet with his parents, Zaida and Antonio Pasinato. He leaves his brother Giuseppe (Ivana); nephews, John (Sue) and Robert (Gulia); great-nephews, Stephen, Alex, Luca, Roberto and great-niece Nicole. Cherishing his memory are his close spiritual companions, Fr. Fred Olds, Fr. Sam Argenziano, Fr. Kevin Bettens, Fr. Jim Cink, Fr. Joe Sharbel, Sr. Mary Coswin OSB, Barbara and Peter Marino and Michael Resendes. Renato was born in the picturesque northern Italian town of Piovene Rochette (Vicenza). In his early teens, Renato's family moved to Northbrook a northern suburb of Chicago. There Renato's name became anglicized into Ronald or Ron. He obtained his BA from Loyola University (Chicago) MDiv St. Michael's University (Toronto) and STL San Anselmo Pontifical University (Rome). Renato was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of St. Boniface on June 5, 1976 by Archbishop Antoine Hacault in his adopted home parish of Christ the King (St. Vital). He became pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish (Morden). After studies in Rome, he was pastor of St. Joseph the Worker (Transcona). He then served as chaplain at St. Boniface Diocesan High School. He was appointed pastor of his beloved Christ the King Parish in 1994 and served as pastor until his retirement in 2014. In his early years of priesthood, Renato helped form future church leaders as a director of the youth ministry program Search for Christian Maturity. For several years, Renato was the co-director of the Nathaniel Lay Ministries Program. He also served on the National Episcopal Commission for Liturgy. As a very gifted liturgist, preacher and teacher Renato enriched the faith of all to whom he ministered. Funeral Prayers will be Wednesday, January 3 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass Thursday, January 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, 847 St. Mary's Road. • For those who were lucky enough to have known Ron, he shed the light of historical reality on customs and rites that were otherwise mysterious. To the two of us, he explained the origins and meaning of matrimony prior to our own marriage. We are forever grateful to him for relieving us of our concerns and misconceptions. He will be with us the rest of our lives. - Posted by: Florence and Serge Scrafield (Friends) on: Jan 03, 2018
