NADIA KUCHARCZUK April 25, 1925 - January 5, 2018 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother on Friday, January 5 at the St. Boniface Hospital following a brief illness. Mom was a few months shy of her 93rd birthday this coming April. Predeceased by her husband Anthony in 1994, she is survived by daughters, Lucy (Ken) Dolynchuk and Lillian Moss, and son John Kucharchuk. Born in the Ukraine in 1925, she was the eldest and last surviving of her five siblings. She immigrated to Canada in 1947 while the rest of her family immigrated to the U.S. Although alone in a country where she didn't speak the language, her strong will and work ethic persevered and predominated as she built her family, her home and her life. Mom's love of family was evident in her close bond with her large circle of relatives from afar, visiting them often over the years, and with her dearest friends whom she considered kin. She loved to be with people whether it be travelling, volunteering on the perogie line, or on her daily ritual walks to Kildonan Park to join friends for coffee and share what was 'news' in each other's families. She loved to cook and bake for her family, took great pride in her garden and enjoyed the occasional win at the casino. For the past five years, Mom called Cathedrale Manor home, where she continued to live independently and nurture new friendships. We are grateful for their love and support. Mom's greatest joy however were her grandchildren; Nick, Alexis, Aaron, Marly and Brittany whom considered her 'The Best Baba Ever'. Great-granddaughter Eve fulfilled her greatest wish. Our mother strongly believed that we should honour those we love, in life. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. A private interment will follow in the spring. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
