BLANCHE DRENNAN May 5, 1927 - January 12, 2018 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mum, nannie, sister, aunt and friend after a short battle with leukemia at the Riverview Health Centre with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Mum is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim, of Donwood Manor; her son Kevin (Catherine); as well as her beloved and adored granddaughters, Breanna Drennan-Bilyk (Brennen) and Kyla Drennan. Mum also leaves behind her two great-granddaughters, Mallory and Daphne Bilyk who were her absolute pride and joy. Mum is also survived by her niece Janine Drennan-Alsip (Jason, Samuel and Ethan) who was like a granddaughter to her. Mum is also survived by her sisters, Beth Somerset (Ken) of England and Peggy Weir of Northern Ireland; brother-in-law Crawford Drennan (Joyce, who she thought of as a sister); cousin Jim Magill and his family and her friend Marie Mawhinney as well as her many nieces and nephews abroad. Mum was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated to Canada in 1953. With the arrival of their son, she became a stay at home mum. Family was very important to her and with the arrival of her granddaughters, a new adventure began for her and dad with many trips to Steinbach, Grand Beach and Gimli to name a few. With the arrival of her two great-granddaughters, she was once again over the moon with love and happiness. As mum said, "I have lived a great life and never thought I would be here to see my great- granddaughters." Mum enjoyed numerous trips back to the old country and Mesa. There were many health challenges along the way but mum faced them head on! A celebration of mum's life will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue, West, Winnipeg, MB, R2C 1T9. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of mum to the TMUC Building Fund either by mail or on line at www.canadahelps.org We would like to thank the many people who were involved in allowing mum to stay in her apartment up until two weeks ago. Thank you to the Home Hospital Team, Dr. Sawchuk, Jan Williams, Mum's Palliative and Home Care Team, especially Maria and all who went above and beyond to help mum. Thank you so much for everything that you did for her and for your unbelievable care. You are definitely angels from above. Thank you to Cecilia and the staff of Devonshire House II for your friendship, help, patience and understanding. Mum loved living there and had made many friends, especially Barb, Florence and Vera. Special thanks to our minister, Carol Fletcher who visited and comforted mum through this difficult time and making her transition an easier one. Mum will be greatly missed and always in our hearts. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives for as long as we did. Mum touched everyone she met, evident by friends both old and new. We will cherish our memories of you and know that you will never be forgotten. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • Ii is with great sadness that I write this tribute to a lovely aunt, who will be greatly missed. We have beautiful memories of your visits home to Northern Ireland and ours to Canada when we were spoiled rotten by you. You were the most amazing hostess and cook, and your recipes have been shared with most of us and will be treasured. We have lovely memories of family evenings when you sang so beautifully for us all, and you were the only person who could bring my father to tears when you sang 'Mother Ireland' one of his favourites. You were kind, thoughtful, funny and forthright, and loved simply to be surrounded by your family - you touched all our lives with such grace. May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rain fall soft upon your feet, till we meet again my dear, till we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. God Bless - Donna, Eleanor, George and all the family circle in the 'old country'. - Posted by: Donna Galloway (Niece) on: Jan 21, 2018
