DON (SONNY) POULIN
Date of Passing: Jan 21, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDON (SONNY) POULIN 1936 - 2018 With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband and father, Don Poulin, on January 21, 2018 at Riverview Health Centre. Don will be lovingly remembered by Carol, his wife of 37 years, and sons, Lincoln and Ashton. He will also be missed by Aunt Jeannine, his sister Irene, many cousins, nephews, nieces and Carol's siblings as well as many friends and business associates. Don was a well-respected man, a kind hearted man who never held a grudge. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, be it friend, acquaintance or stranger. Starting at the age of 15, Don worked alongside his dad in the Pest Control Industry. Once he took over, Don expanded the business and opened offices throughout Western Canada. During his 66 plus years in the industry, Don's motivation and passion established Poulin's Pest Control into one of the largest pest control companies in Canada. In Don's eyes everyone employed by Poulin's is considered extended family. He cared for each and every employee and his door was always open to everyone. Don loved spending time at the "camp" in St. Malo. This was considered family and friends time. Here he was known as "Sonny". Swimming, canoeing, bonfires, laughing, throwing sticks for the dogs; he enjoyed it all, especially four wheeling where getting stuck, usually in wet mud, was his favourite part. Lincoln or Ashton were usually around for the challenge to "get dad out'. All fun! Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and aids at Riverview Health Centre, 3 East, for the excellent care during Don's short stay. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory can be made to The Salvation Army, 203-290 Vaughan Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2N8 or Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Carol, Lincoln and Ashton, I just heard and wanted to say how sorry I am. I worked at Poulin's in Winnipeg in the early '90's - Don had just got his first car phone and it was installed in his Cadillac. All us girls used to get a little giggle watching Don talking to someone in the office, while parked just outside the building, ragtop down. Still makes me giggle. After an extended maternity leave, I returned to Poulin's in early 2000 and was eventually transferred to the Calgary Branch. Contrary to popular belief, I enjoyed Don's visits to the Branch. Lincoln's not so much! I am joking of course. Very fond memories of Don and Family. He will certainly be missed by many. Take care all, you are in my thoughts, Shannon - Posted by: Shannon Hallson (former employee) on: Mar 22, 2018

Carol, Lincoln, and Aston: No words can express how sorry we are to learn of Don’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this very sad time. Although we’ve only known Don for a few years, we felt we knew him for many. He was a great man; always friendly and always smiling. He would always walk across the room to say “Hi” to you. And he always had a good joke to tell you. He will be sadly missed by all. Barry & Linda - Posted by: Barry Riench & Linds Skiba (Friends) on: Feb 05, 2018

I first met Sonny in 1951 when I worked for Poulin Pest Control in Acadia Valley AB. It was quite an adventure for both of us to explore the wilderness and the many abandoned homesteads. Since then, I only met him once for lunch but I definitely remember Sonny as one of the kindest person I've known. Leonard (Fuzzy) Gratton. - Posted by: Leonard Gratton (Friend) on: Jan 27, 2018
