Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRUCE EDWARD PURDY June 19, 1936 - February 20, 2018 After a long seven-year battle with Alzheimer's, Bruce is at peace. Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Donna Thain, daughter Leanne Van Bergen (Phil) and two grandchildren, Derek and Amy to whom he held great pride. Predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline in 1995, his parents (Louise and Ralph Purdy) and his brother Warren. Bruce was a graduate of Fine Arts from the U of M and spent his career working for two advertising firms as production manager (Foster and McKim). In retirement, he pursued his creative skills making pottery, working with stones and refinishing furniture as the illustrious "Male Stripper" of Victoria Beach. The best place to be, for Bruce, was Victoria Beach and as a member of the Ateah family, he spent every summer there. As a teenager he helped Uncle John with the mink ranch and later, the Parking Lot. In 1972, he had his own cottage built at Wanasing Beach. In 1955 Bruce played on the school curling team representing Manitoba in the Canadian Championship in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He skipped his own curling team at the Wildewood Club for many years. Golfing and cycling were other sports he enjoyed. Bruce and Donna enjoyed travel across Canada, USA, Europe, and New Zealand, as well as taking several cruises. Thanks to the caring staff of SouthEast Personal Care Home, his home for the past year. Donations, if desired, to the Alzheimer Society would be gratefully accepted. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at Victoria Beach.

Fond memories of Bruce at Wanasing Beach. Bruce was always most welcoming to me and my family as we invaded the cottage. He was a man always in motion, on his bike, going golfing, or just being the best male stripper around. Always with a smile, Bruce had a way of making you feel relaxed- even though he was continuously on the move. Bruce and I will always be connected, as past Horseshoe champions of the Wanasing Beach picnic. You are missed. Tom Cropo - Posted by: Tom Cropo (family friend) on: Jul 14, 2018

I was the one who convinced Bruce to leave Foster and join me at McKim Advertising. Bruce was a master at his craft. With a great sense of humour, an eye for creative and an ability to make magic in the production department, he was a key to our success. I would never have achieved the success in advertising without the this wonderful gentleman. Rest In Peace. Ron Telpner - Posted by: Ron Telpner (I was Bruce’s “boss” at McKim) on: Mar 01, 2018
