SHIRLEY YVONNE JACKSON It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing in loving memory of Shirley Jackson on February 18, 2018, at home and at the wise age of 68 years. She is predeceased by her daughter Nicole and mother Ethlien. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Junior; her sons, Nigel, Michael, Kendal; her son-in-law Jeffery; and her daughters-in-law, Natalia and Ketra and their families. Shirley was born October 29, 1950 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She moved to Canada in 1968, where she pursued her passion for child care education. After graduating from Red River College in the early 1990s she embarked on a journey of child care that had been the foundation of the many children she cared for. She cared for the community deeply. Being a Big Sister for Winnipeg Parents of Twins and Triplets, and Vice President of Youth Affairs for the St. Vincent and Grenadines Association of Winnipeg are a testament of this. Shirley had an infectious laugh. She brought great joy to many as a beacon in our community. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter Anglican Church, 755 Elm Street. Viewing will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Reception will follow. Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Special thank you to the Joseph and Patrick families for all your compassion and support. • Our deepest condolences to Junior and the boys on the loss of their wife and mother. To know Shirley was a joy as she was always funny and warm to everyone she came across. Her cooking was wonderful and she made a wicked Rum Punch that was always shared with everyone. She was so proud of the men her boys have become and reveled in their accomplishments. We were blessed to have known her. Rest in peace Shirley. Lisa & Bert Tarko - Posted by: Lisa Tarko (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2018

  • I am saddened to hear of Shirley's passing. I enjoyed meeting and talking to Shirley many times about the Bomber's progress while we were at bingo. We are both great fans of the Blue & Gold, and we would often laugh, groan, criticize or cheer about their progress throughout the season. Shirley shall be missed, and my condolences to her family. May God guide you all through this difficult time and know that she is in a better place. - Posted by: Diane (Bingo Friend) on: Feb 26, 2018
