FRANCESCO (FRANK) ANANIA May 24, 1934 - February 23, 2018 It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce that Francesco (Frank) Anania, loving husband of Angela (Grande), died suddenly at Concordia Hospital, on Friday February 23, 2018. Along with his wife of 59 years, he leaves to mourn him his children, Abelina (Gino) Greco, Mary (David) Jung, Grace Anania, and Georgina (Trent) Wilk. He also leaves his six grandchildren, Joshua, Daniella, Erin, Justin, Tyler, and Parker, his siblings and sisters-in-law, Angela Vitale, Raffaelina Anania, Lorenzo (Anna) Anania, Maria Smith, and Heather Grande and their families living here, the USA, England, and Italy. He is predeceased by his parents, Gaetano and Abelina Anania, his in-laws, Maria and Gregorio Grande, his brothers-in-law, Geoff Smith, Pino Vitale, and Tony Grande and his nieces and nephew, Lisa Grande, Rosella Scerbo, and Bryan Keville. Francesco was born on May 24, 1934 in Amato, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1958 where he married his devoted wife. By trade, he was a brick layer but in reality there was very little that he could not build, remodel or fix. He built the family home and reconstructed his beloved cabin in Gimli. He was very musically talented and could play many instruments. He loved to garden and then sit and relax in the shade of his trees. He was proud of many things, like being an Italian Canadian, being a Freemason and a member of the Acacia Lodge. But most of all, he was proud of his family and especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Riposa in Pace, Papa. If one chooses, in lieu of flowers, one can make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Concordia Hospital Foundation. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3 at the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Viewing and condolences will take place at 9:00 a.m. and Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. I got to know Frank during his working years at Red River College. He was always willing to share his knowledge or tips whenever I was doing a masonry project at home. I will forever be grateful for that. He was a good work friend and I enjoyed our chats whenever we ran into each other. He was well respected at RRC. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Dennis Musick (Friend) on: Feb 28, 2018
