MARY KRUK (nee MEDWID) June 24, 1921 - March 8, 2018 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Baba. Mary passed away peacefully at Holy Family Home. She was predeceased by her husband Steve; parents; daughter-in-law Nettie, and numerous brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. Mary will be missed by her children: Arnold (Carol Hepp), Gloria (Ken) Hewat and Debra. Also mourning her passing are five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters Olga Jopka, Alice Anilowski, Pauline Zulak and Sylvia Kowalchuk, and brother-in-law Ed (Florence) Kruk. Mary was born in Ethelbert to Sam and Katherine Medwid. On October 1, 1939 she married the late Steve Kruk. They were married for 49 years. They farmed in the Dauphin area, eventually moving to the town of Dauphin. Mary worked as a waitress for 18 years at the Dauphin Hotel. In 1978, they moved to Winnipeg, where Mary worked at Bethania Personal Care Home for 10 years as a housekeeper/support worker. At the age of 70, Mary retired, now having the time to focus on her favourite pastimes; working in her garden, making perogies, family dinners, knitting afghans, mittens, scarves and ending with dishcloths. The family would like to thank all the staff on 3A at Holy Family Home for the loving care they showed Mary during her stay. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing at 9:30 a.m. at St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church, 45 Foster Street. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
