BARBARA FLEURY January 9, 1950 - March 7, 2018 A heart attack ended the kind hearted life of Barbara Fleury at age 68. Though poor and in need she volunteered for decades at 'the Cross' (Chez Nous) serving 'the street'; and at 'Agape' the elderly. After her stroke she simply continued to serve. To many 'guys' she was an Aboriginal grandmother. The funeral was served at St. Kateri Tekakwitha on Ellice, Saturday, March 17, 2018. All were there. A thank you to all who, over many years, helped the family: the Cross, Agape, Westminster United and others. Thanks to the 'system' for bringing her son. He was there! Thanks to Kevin, a police officer who came on his own time. Barbara lived a suffering life amidst poverty. Jesus Christ transfigured her life. Occasionally we are allowed to see how the Winnipeg community together makes life worth living. Each shares just a little bit and Barbara in turn served, too. In her life we see how our city is reflected in a kind but difficult life. She is very much missed by her husband, the family, the parish and the street. With all our love!
