He is predeceased by his wife Gloria Mariano, his parents, Hermogenes and Nieves, and siblings, Resty and Rinaldo. Rueben was born in the Philippines and moved to Canada in 1985 where he started a life and family with his late wife, Gloria. Rueben will be remembered for his kindness, humour, generosity, laughter, and his big smile. He loved to work in the garden with his wife, took great pride in their harvest and shared their fresh garden vegetables with family, neighbours, and friends. He was very thankful for family and friends who came to visit and called him at his family home and personal care home. He was well liked by all those he met in his life and will be greatly missed. During his last days, Rueben met his very first grandchild, Gloria (Ria) for the first and last time. It was a very special moment for him and his family. He was overjoyed with so much love and happiness for his grand-daughter whom he called his "Princess Glory". Lamay (viewing) will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. followed immediately by interment (of both Rueben and Gloria Mariano). The Mariano family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre, the Grace Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre (Urology Department and H7) for their care and compassion over the past year and during his final days.
