MICHAEL DAVID FAST March 3, 1966 - March 29, 2018 Peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2018 after a short battle with cancer, Michael David Fast passed away at the age of 52, with his family by his side. Left to cherish Mike's memory are his mother Janet; sister Debbie (Ray); brother Chris; and sister Heather (Richard). He also leaves nieces and nephews, Trevin, Tailer, Teagan, Brighton, Zachary, Joshua and Elisabeth; great-nieces and nephew Deslyn, Charlie, Kinsley, and Broderick. He was predeceased by his father Robert. Mike was always there to help family and friends and would never pass up a chance to use the many tools that he had, if he didn't have it, he went out and bought it. Mike especially liked travelling around the city and snow blowing everyone's driveways and sidewalks. He put his whole heart into everything he did and was the most dedicated employee that any company could ask for. Mike went in early and stayed late just to make sure the job was done to his specification. He worked tirelessly at work and then went out and helped friends if they needed. Mike expected nothing in return, but a good old fashion home cooked meal was always appreciated. He had an appetite that never ended, and he never gained a pound, making all of us jealous. Mike enjoyed his Harley rides into the mountains with his friends in Calgary and enjoyed going to the racetrack to see his buddy's car race. The family would like to thank the Palliative team from 3E at Riverview Health Centre for their dedication and compassionate care. As per Mike's request, a formal service will not be held. Please join us for an informal drop in Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in The Four Crowns Inn Hotel, 1030 McPhillips Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancercare Manitoba or to Riverview Health Centre. Mom, He Only Took My Hand Last night while I was trying to sleep, My son’s voice I did hear, I opened my eyes and looked around, But he did not appear. He said, “Mom, you’ve got to listen, You’ve got to understand, God didn’t take me from you, mom, He only took my hand. When I called out in pain that day, The moment that I died, He reached down and took my hand, And pulled me to His side. He pulled me up and saved me From the misery and pain. My body was hurt so badly, I could never be the same. My search is really over now, I’ve found happiness within, All the answers to my empty dreams, And all that might have been. I love you all and miss you so, And I’ll always be nearby. My body’s gone forever, But my spirit will never die. And so, you must all go on now, And live, and understand……. God did not take me from you, He only took my hand.” ~ Author Unknown ~ - Posted by: Ashlee Taylor (Family Friend ) on: Apr 09, 2018

Mike was awesome. Just a downright good person. I can remember one ride in late September, I actually had to wear snow pants it was so damn cold. It was the last weekend that the Kananaskis Trail would be open for the season. Once we got to the summit, it started snowing like a banshee. Lol. That was one hell of a ride down the other side. Yes, as mentioned, Mike helped build not one but 7 race cars. He even drove one race and proudly remarked that he prefered building over driving. You are going to missed my friend. I will drink a coffee in your memory. Until we meet again......cheers. - Posted by: Sean Paul Patterson (Friend (Brother)) on: Apr 08, 2018
