PAT DILLISTONE 1933 Winnipeg - 2018 Nanaimo Pat was loved by all who met him. A Nanaimo fixture for 27 years, he has been walking every day, rain or shine: through the forest, to the bakery, around the block, and more recently, up and down the halls. "Walk. Walk. Walk." A stroke 29 years ago allowed his strength and determination to shine through, continuing to travel the world. Pat's loving wife Beth indulged his wanderlust to visit family in New Zealand, cruise the Pacific to Australia, and visit many other places. As a young couple, they took their children to live in France and Germany, and explore Europe in their Volkswagen and Boler trailer. The long lasting friendships formed there in the Air Force, as well as others developed through his days as Meteorologist, continue to this day. Pat and his three brothers left their mark with a lot of friends growing up in Winnipeg and Brandon, and he returned to Winnipeg to raise his own family. He will be remembered by his colleagues and students at the School of Meteorology, where he went from Instructor to Commandant before retiring to Nanaimo. As a longstanding and beloved member of the Stroke Club, Pat has helped and inspired many others. His last year at Malaspina Gardens will be remembered not so much for his love of coffee, but more for his kindness and daily greeting of each and every friend in the dining hall. A special thank you to the wonderful, caring staff who laughed with him, teased him, and attended to his every need. Pat's legacy will be his drive, kindness and sense of exploration. He is loved, and will be missed by his wife Beth, their three children and spouses, 10 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
