Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I had the privilege of working with Bill in IT at the Canadian Grain Commission. I was not an IT person - Bill was always so patient and dealt with my lack of IT expertise with humour and kindness. He was truly one of the good guys. I’m saddened to hear that he has left us far too soon. - Posted by: Marilyn Kapitany (Co-worker) on: Apr 12, 2018

  • Connie please accept our sincere condolences on Bill's passing. Bill was a wonderful man of faith and his smile was contagious. He was as giving a person as anyone could ask for. When we didn't have a vehicle to get to church he gave us one and we have never forgotten his generosity. That simple act allowed us to do a lot of other things in our lives. He told me to Pay it Forward an we will never forget. A remarkable man who will be missed. Rest in peace Friend - Posted by: Sam and Elizabeth Skroopka (friends) on: Apr 11, 2018

  • I met Bill when he worked at Digital and I at the CGC. He was the service rep for the CGC and he was quickly respected as the guy who could resolve any problem. I was very excited when he came to work for us full time. Bill had a special way with people and like so many others have said, he would never treat anybody with disrespect or ever lose his patience. He was always so busy, but he would always make time or eventually reach out when time allowed. I spent many hours sitting with Bill watching him do his magic and listening to the stories about his family or what project was going on at home. You could sure tell how much he loved his family and how much they loved him. I will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to Connie and the rest of his family and friends. - Posted by: Les Kaplan (CoWorker) on: Apr 09, 2018

  • Dear Connie and family Erna and I extend our sincerest condolences. We are so shocked and saddened by the news of Billy’s too soon death. We remember him fondly with his friendly warm smile. He was a hard worker and he spent several years working at Kitchen Craft after school. We trusted him implicitly. We pray that God will sustain you with his love and peace. He was good man. • I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Bill’s whole family. I was very saddened to hear about his passing. I will always remember him as a quiet, calm, very smart person. I hope I can say this for all of us, i.e. CGC software developers, that he never made us feel embarrassed when we asked him questions that for him were probably trivial. He, with an angel-like patience, always explained and helped us even if he was very busy. He never complained, never belittled anybody, and never seemed to be in a panic mode even in the middle of a network incident. And I truly mean it when I say that it was a pleasure to work with him and an honour to know him. - Posted by: Monika Ring (Co-worker) on: Apr 06, 2018

  • We hired Bill at Digital when I was District Manager, of Customer Service. Bill was quietly effective and loved by our customers as well as all his co-workers. I send my deepest condolences to all who knew Bill and my wishes that your cherished memories of Bill will help to lessen your grief. - Posted by: Gary Card (Friend and employer) on: Apr 06, 2018

  • My sincere condolences to Connie and family. I had the honor and privilege of working with Bill at the CGC in Winnipeg. I had recently moved there and was tasked to change one of the processes from paper to electronic. I was the new kid on the block and IT for me was so overwhelming, as I was from a different division. Bill always made me feel so comfortable to ask a million questions and had the patience to answer and explain them all. Some days when I was feeling stressed just to run down the stairs to say hello made me day better. Bill will be truly missed by all. - Posted by: Debbie Pankewich Jackson (Co worker) on: Apr 06, 2018

  • Bob, was saddened to hear of your loss. It is never possible to anticipate the sense of loss when a love one passes - but equally impossible to imagine the jubilation they are experiencing as they enter the home of eternal love. Best wishes to you and your family in this time. - Posted by: Steve I (Colleague (Bob Reimer)) on: Apr 05, 2018

  • Bob I wanted to extend my deepest condolences to you and your family. I am truly sorry for your loss, and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. May your faith provide you (all) with the strength to weather this storm. Susan - Posted by: Susan Kedzo (Colleague and Friend of Bob Reimer) on: Apr 05, 2018

  • I remember in my first year working with Bill at CGC. A quiet man, with a wizard like aura around him. He had "entrusted" me with cleaning up a Vax system's file structure on a weekend. I accidentally erased everything from the root directory on one of the systems. With my heart in my throat I called Bill at home to let him know. He gently asked me a few questions and calmly replied that he would take care of things. Which he did. To which I still feel to this day a sense of gratitude that I don't think I ever properly relayed to him. He was our entire department's rock. He was my mentor. He knew everything about everything and if we didn't know something, we knew Bill would know (before Google). And even after our favorite search engine showed up, we would always query Bill first. I am so sorry to hear about his passing. Condolences to Connie and the kids. He was a amazing person. - Posted by: Luke (Co-worker) on: Apr 05, 2018
