JOAN WITOSKI It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Witoski, nee Dunn, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Joan was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Terry (Jani) Witoski, Laurie (David) Kaminski, Kathie (Gerard) Grocholski, and Chris (Val) Witoski; grandchildren, Richard Witoski, Michael (Lesley) Witoski, Christina (Darren) Price, Bryan Grocholski, Allie Grocholski, Alexis Kaminski, Jocelyne Kaminski, Nick Witoski, and Megan Witoski; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her sister-in-law Carol Witoski. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Ted Witoski. On January 1, 1934, Joan was born in Brandon, MB. She attended Normal School in Winnipeg where she aspired to become a teacher. It is there that she met Ted Witoski. In 1953, they were married and together they raised four children in Winnipeg. Life was a never dull or boring. In her early years, Mom spent many a summer vacation in Vancouver or riding trains through the mountains with her Aunt Alice and Uncle Bill Broomhall. After a few years of teaching, Mom's focus in the early years of marriage turned to her children being a stay-at-home mom. An avid sewer, her children often sported matching outfits, handmade by Mom. She was involved in Brownies and Guides where she was a tester for sewing badges. Joan was very involved in music her entire life. For many years, Mom was involved in choirs at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, starting with leading the children's choir when her family was young and moving into the leadership of music ministry. She also ran her own music studio teaching piano and organ for several years Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, with Rev. Fr. Eric Giddins presiding. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Joan's name to a charity of your choice. Chris & Val and the Witoski family -- what a wonderful life that your Mom had. It was a gift that she was able to stay home with her four children, she could travel and I can picture the matching outfits that she lovingly sewed for you!
