JOHN ECKTON John David Eckton was born September 15, 1949. He passed away too soon at the age of 68, on March 19, 2018. He leaves behind his two sons Steven (Ceannmhara) and Neil (Heather). His six grandchildren will greatly miss their grandpa: Conaill, Ceilidh, Cliodna, Caiseal, Erik and William. They will always remember him for his love of trains, his many surprises, treats and fun times at family gatherings. He also leaves behind his sister Carolyn (Daniel) and his nieces Jessica (Maymar) and Andrea (Shawn). John enjoyed many things including the outdoors, fixing cars, building things, live music, art, antiquing, collecting and sailing to list a few. He especially enjoyed being a father and grandfather and sharing his many interests with his sons and grandchildren. He was a genuinely caring and generous man who was always willing to help others. John was a loyal employee at Safeway whose career spanned 53 years (the longest serving employee at Safeway in Manitoba). During that time he met and worked with many great people. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Centre for their dedicated care.
