Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL LOUISE GRANT September 7, 1922 - March 24, 2018 After a long and happy life we announce the peaceful passing of Mabel Louise Grant on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the age of 95. Mabel is survived by her son James Grant (Beverly), grandchildren Bill Grant (Kerry-Lynn), Misty Grant (Dan) and Tiffany Grant, great-grandchildren Breanne Grant, Ken Hardman (Shannon), Kayden Grant and Seth Miller-Grant, great-great-granddaughter Alexus Hardman, many nieces and nephews, and lots of friends. Mabel was predeceased by her husband George Grant, granddaughter Mary-Lee Grant, great-granddaughter Emma-Lee Arnould-Grant, brothers, sisters and in-laws, Leonard (Audrey), Arnold (Frances), Ernest (Phyllis) and (Lil) Askin, Julia (Roy) Holtom, Miriam (Gordon) Nichol, Arthur (Margaret) and (Betty) Grant. Mabel was born on the family farm near Burnside, MB. In 1922, she attended Burnside Elementary School then attended high school in Portage La Prairie, MB. She also attended Normal School and became a teacher for a short time. Mabel was stationed in Ottawa during the Second World War and worked as a coder with the Naval Service. It was in Ottawa she met the love of her life, George Grant and married him on June 21, 1945. Over the years Mabel lived in Minnedosa and Vancouver returning to live in Winnipeg in 1974. Mabel worked in the banking industry for 38 years, with 31 of those years at the Royal Bank before retiring in 1987. Mabel loved attending Sunday services with her girls (as she called them) at the Windsor Park United Church. She also enjoyed her Thursdays with the High Steppers seniors club. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at River East Personal Care Home on Courage Bay for all the support and love you showed to our mother and grandmother. Mabel's infectious smile and loving character will be missed by all that had the opportunity to meet her. A celebration of Mabel's life will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Team Brody Foundation: www.facebook.com/teambrodyfoundation/

Jim, Bev and family so sorry to hear about Aunt Mabel's passing. She was always interested in what the girls and I were up to and her and Dad were so close. Sorry we won't be able to attend the funeral as we are out of the country until May 7th. - Posted by: Tom Askin (Nephew) on: Apr 23, 2018
