DOROTHY SYLVIA LACEY January 6, 1933 - April 8, 2018 Dorothy passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her three sons Donald (Linda) of Lethbridge, James (Sheila) of Burlington and Robert (Bonny) of Welland, her daughter Pamela Randall (Wayne) of Saskatoon, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also, brother Gary Snell (Kerry) of Winnipeg, as well as sister-in-law Margaret Lacey of Winnipeg. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Norman in 2016, mother Rose Snell (Stanley), sister June, Aunt Estelle and Uncle Jack. Dorothy and Norman were married for 67 years. Norman accepted leadership roles with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in radio and television for 38 years, beginning that career in Winnipeg and then moving to Calgary, Toronto (as Director of Radio for the CBC) and Saskatoon. Dorothy supported Norman's professional life and supported the family throughout several exciting relocations. Norm retired from the CBC in 1986 and he and Dorothy moved back to their birthplace, Winnipeg, to share life with family and friends. Dorothy made friends easily. She liked to entertain and was the life of the party. Her bubbly personality and great sense of humour contributed to family and neighbourhood events over the years. Dorothy was particularly close to her mother Rose and sister June during their lives. Lots of visiting, lots of laughs. Special occasions and turkey dinners were an integral part of family gatherings. Dorothy loved the beach, ensuring her sons enjoyed summer vacations filled with sun, sand and lakes while growing up. She was Tawney Owl when her daughter Pam was in Girl Guides. Our family extends appreciation to the staff at Vista Park for their kind service to Mom throughout the past three years. Sincere appreciation to Dr. Kulas and the Emergency staff at St. Boniface Hospital who treated Mom with benevolent professionalism and sensitivity during her final hours. According to her wishes, Dorothy was interred in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens close to family. A private family service will follow later this spring. We will love and miss you Mom and we find comfort in the knowledge that you are at peace.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dot as I knew her, was my weekly client. I was her hairdresser, when she moved to Saskatoon. Getting her hair done was very important to her! She loved to tell stories about her life & especially about her children. I got to know her very well & we were great friends. Even when she moved back to Winnipeg, she kept in touch! She will be missed! - Posted by: Gloria Katelnikoff (Friend ) on: May 07, 2018
