ROBERT FRANK October 11, 1956 - April 19, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Robert Erwin Frank passed away suddenly at the age of 61 with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Brenda (nee Gill), his daughter Jaclyn Frank (Andrew Hughes); stepdaughters, Roxanne Chance and Kimberley Manchur (Kris); grandson Nicholas Manchur; mother Elsie Frank; sister Penny Mrochuk; nephew Josh Mrochuk (Karley); niece Aliya Mrochuk; as well as by many extended family members and close friends. Rob was predeceased by his father Ervin Frank. Rob was born in Pine Falls, Manitoba. He began his work with the Provincial Forestry Branch in Winnipeg in 1973. He retired in 2011 at the age of 55. His love of conservation and the outdoors was evident throughout his professional and personal life. He spent many of his summers golfing and gardening. If you ever needed gardening advice, or any advice really, Rob was the one to call. Rob's many loves included curling, baseball, putting up Christmas lights, cooking and of course, the Toronto Maple Leafs. He could always be found wearing his Maple Leafs' hat, which earned him many free drinks and handshakes. With Rob, every day was an opportunity to do something extraordinary. Most importantly, Rob was the heart of his family. He was a devoted father to Jaclyn, and he never missed a single one of her practices, performances or activities. When she moved to Calgary, he continued to visit her come rain, shine, or snow storms, often making the drive without stopping. Skiing, hiking, and new restaurants were the highlights of his visits. For Jaclyn, Rob was more than happy to try anything. Rob was also an excellent second dad to Roxanne and Kim, and could always be counted on for help and advice. He was an especially amazing grandfather to Nicholas. He and Rob would play on the floor for hours, because whatever Nicholas wanted, Rob made a reality. If Rob was in the room, Nicholas had eyes for no one else. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Cardiac Unit 5th Floor, The Assiniboine Zoo, or a charity of your choice.
