GORDON SAMUEL STRONG Our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on May 3, 2018. Gordon is survived by his wife Gerdine (nee Lawrence, Crawford), his children, Douglas (Kim), Duncan (Lynette), David (Eveline) and Allison (Russ), stepchildren, Lawrie (James) and Kerry (Karen), grandchildren, Anna (Roy), Danny (Samantha), Caroline (Danny), Graeme (Meghan), Jon, Alex (Brighton), Sarah (Nathan), Kyle, Rae (Brett), Ryan, Madison (Myron), Victoria, Anastasia, and Michael, and great-grandchildren, Grace and Lupin. He was predeceased by his first wife Joan Allison (nee Croll ) in 1985. Only child of Olonzo and Ellen May Strong, Gordon was born in Winnipeg in 1930. He attended Kelvin High School and the University of Manitoba. He retired as Chief Appraiser for the Land Acquisition Branch of the Government of Manitoba, worked on the ethics committee, Appraisal Institute of Canada, and sat on the Winnipeg Board of Revision. Gord was an enthusiastic golfer and member of Southwood Golf and Country Club for many years. He was very proud of the fact that he just missed shooting his age by one when he was 80 years old. Gord and Gerd enjoyed spending time at the cottage in summer and winter vacations in Phoenix. Gordon was a very honest, honourable man with great integrity and a zest for life. Although he will be leaving members of 'The Old Gang', he will be joining many others. We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital 5B for their care and compassion. We invite friends and family to join us in a celebration of Gordon's life at Thomson "In The Park", Tuesday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fort Whyte Alive, 1961 McCreary Road.
