Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS ELAINE CAMPBELL (nee MCCORMICK) October 16, 1935 - May 18, 2018 Sadly and unexpectedly, with family by her side, on May 18, 2018 our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Doris Elaine Campbell passed away. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Pearl McCormick, and her brother David. Doris will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ivan; her three sons that they raised in East Kildonan: Patrick (Cynthia), Derrick (Kathi) and Raymond (Darla); grandchildren: Andrew (Amy), Chantel (Travis), Karen (Joel), Caitlin and Natalie; and four great-grandchildren: Eve, Hudson, Alice and Logan. Doris is survived by her sisters-in-law: Patricia Landolfo, Yvonne Smith (Nelson), Judy Dufrat (Don) and Elizabeth Woods; brothers-in-law: Warren Woods, Garth Campbell (Shannon), and special childhood friend and sister-in-law Velma Cummer (Bert), as well as by many nieces and nephews. Doris was raised in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, graduated from Gordon Bell High School, married Ivan, and worked with him at Key Insurance Agency for 30 years. When semi-retired they spent several years hobby farming in the interlake area, which provided her with lots of time for her enjoyment of cooking, gardening and preserving. Doris enjoyed curling with Ivan at the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She spent many years as a volunteer at the local East Kildonan YMCA. She had a passion for live theatre and especially enjoyed taking family and grandchildren to Rainbow Stage. This passion led her to become an avid volunteer with the Winnipeg Fringe Festival and the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (where she served as a head usher for over 30 years). She had fun performing in numerous live plays hosted by the Good Neighbour's Club. Doris had an active social life in the community that included YMCA, Good Neighbours Club, Red River Rose Society, and St. Johns Lawn Bowling Club. Most recently she was an active resident enjoying life at Concordia Village. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Village Centre, Concordia Village, 1115 Molson St., Winnipeg, MB R2K 2N5, (204) 667-6479. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation dedicated in memory of Doris Campbell to Concordia Foundation, concordiafoundation.ca/donate - 204-661-7156. My condolences to Ivan, Patrick, Derrick, Ray and families. I remember travelling out to visit Doris and Ivan on the Interlake homestead at Christmas time to cut down a tree. We trekked through many snow drifts to get just the right one and were welcomed back with hot cocoa and dessert. yum yum. The toilet was a composting one which was a first for me, to use. Will miss Doris' infectious giggle and bright wit. Rest with the angels and twinkle like a bright star over your family. - Posted by: Laurie Robson Curry (family member-in-law) on: May 28, 2018
