BETTY CHARLOTTE VERMETTE June 1, 2018 With great sadness the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and all around sweet friend, after a brief illness. Left to mourn are her daughter Carol Defries and husband Wilbert, son Wilfred Vermette and wife Suzie Perrin, daughter Michele Hopkins and husband Brian. Mom also leaves behind grandchildren, Wally Schmeichel (Pat), Gregory DeFries, Rene Sabo (Rob), Wilfred and Wesley Vermette, and Sarah Vermette Hopkins (Nick); great-grandchildren, Emily and Cole Schmeichel, Tucker DeFries, Seth and Faye Sabo; nephew Rick Phillips (Marlene), and very special niece Joanne Godden McFadden. Family was the most important thing in the world to Mom, and in the final days of her life the family had some great visits and laughs, which will leave fond memories for all who visited her. The family are so very grateful to the staff at the Grace Hospital, who cared for Mom with such compassion in her final days, and want to thank Dr. Kevin Coates for all the years of care. At Mom's request there will be no funeral service. A private celebration of her life will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to CancerCare Manitoba.
