JOSEFINA PANGILINAN Peacefully, with her entire family by her side, Josefina Pangilinan (Josie, Jo, JoJo, Jopay) passed away at her home, on Monday, June 11, 2018. Her devotion to her family and her unwavering faith in God supported her through her bravely fought battle, and ultimately gave her peace. Jo was born in Manila, Philippines to the late Africa and Erasmo Torres Sr. Her childhood was also spent in Manila, growing up with family, friends and neighbours; one very special childhood friend turned out to be the man she would marry. Jo attended Feati University, where she achieved a Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Administration. She married Felix, the love of her life, on January 16, 1981, and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1983. Following employment at Westcott Garment Factory, Jo attended Success Business College and then continued to work in administrative departments at Royal Trust, doctor's offices, and finally CancerCare Manitoba for the last 13 years. Jo and Felix were married for 37 years; her husband, their three children, and her pet dogs were her heart and joy. Jo loved spending summers camping with family and friends, and also enjoyed Saturday night get-togethers with friends playing bingo, cards, and singing karaoke. Though she had faced many challenges over the last couple of years, Jo's resolve, will to live, and faith was never shaken. Her family will always remember her as a strong, courageous, loving, and devoted woman. Jo was predeceased by her parents, Africa and Erasmo Torres Sr., Mommy Ariz and Daddy Juan, Aunt Colombia, and uncles, Neri, Pacifico, Clemente, Nicholas Jr. and Fernando. Jo's memory will forever be cherished by her husband, Felix; her children, Bryan, Kesneil and Kevin; her sister, Lori; her nieces, Lizette (Elmo), Edelwina (Rainier), and Trista; and grandnephews, Nicholas and Ryan. Lamay will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., on Saturday, June 16, 2018, 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St., on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support received, and would also like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff of CancerCare Manitoba for their care and compassion.
