Date of Passing: May 11, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY JANE REID Our beloved "MJ"- Mary Jane Reid, left us to begin the next part of her journey, on May 11, 2018, at the young age of 63. She was born October 1, 1954, to Buck and Bernice Grey, the third of four children. Predeceased by father James (Buck) Grey, brother Jim Grey, husband Randy Reid, and in-laws, Bill and June Reid. Survived by and missing her terribly, are mother, Bernice Grey, brother Peter (Leona Boode), sister Susan McLeod (Bud), sisters-in-law, Brenda Grey, Barb Chale (Rick), Michelle Field, Maureen Ewert (Jim) and brother-in-law Danny Reid (Karen); nieces and nephews, Jayme Coleman (Cam), Ryan Grey (Lauren), Chris McLeod (Jo-Anne), Dustin McLeod (Selyn), Jillian Faulds (Brandon), Lauren Henderson (Kevin), Denny Grey (Jacalyn), Janine Reid, Jeremy Reid and Grant Ewert; seven great-nephews, three great-nieces; Sandy Bell, who has been like a sister to MJ; and many loyal and caring friends and relatives. MJ grew up in old St. Vital, and attended Windsor School, St. Mary's Academy, and Lakehead University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Education degrees. She married Randy Reid in 1978, and they spent many happy years together. MJ worked as a teacher for several years, nurturing special relationships with her students along the way. She excelled at many varied occupations, believing variety to be the spice of life! She was a lifelong learner, continuously furthering her education. MJ was talented and accomplished, possessed a quick wit, and loved a good debate on any controversial topic. MJ had a special place in her heart for Lake of the Woods, and spent many magical summers in the Kenora and Sioux Narrows areas. Her dogs were her passion, especially her Basset Hounds, of which she owned five! She found them to be entertaining and challenging, and was an extraordinary "mom" to all her dogs! She lived with, and battled Type I Diabetes for over 50 years. She did so with grace and determination, ever-accepting of the many health challenges she faced in later years. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and were lucky enough to have her in their lives! Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m., at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. Oh Mary Jane how I miss you. Your quick wit, great sense of humour, compassion, and all around wonderful person leaves quite the void in so many lives. I can only take comfort in that your pain is over. I know you are smiling knowing your dear Tucker and Scuffy have been welcomed into their homes by Susan and Jillian. So wonderful of them. Love and miss you Mertz, Brenda - Posted by: Brenda Grey (Sister in law) on: Jun 19, 2018
