DARLENE AUDREY SHIRLEY THIESSEN (nee NORQUAY) Darlene Thiessen died peacefully in St. Pierre-Jolys Hospital on June 20, 2018 at the age of 63 after a fight with cancer. Darlene was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her husband, Abe; children, Scott (Sherry), Vince (Crystal), Jackie (Corey), Pam (Troy), Travis (Kyla); grandchildren, Randy, Shyla, Tyler, Caleb, Landon, Peyton, Easton, Brady, Kaylin, Jordan, Noah, Colby, Ryann; great-grandchildren, Kiera, Greyson, Liam; 13 brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and a brother. Darlene was born on May 23, 1955 in Dauphin, Manitoba. She was adopted by her parents, Scott and Mildred Norquay and was welcomed into a large loving family. Later in life she felt blessed to find many of her biological family. Family and friends were Darlene's passion and delight. Her children remember her as a strong, loving and caring mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She achieved her lifelong goal of completing her high school education at the age of 50. She was an active and dedicated member of her church. Her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held.
