BARBARA HELEN STRONG Barbara Helen Strong (nee Amy) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 13, 2018. Barb will be deeply missed and always remembered by her husband Bill, children, Jessica and Paul, mother Mildred, sisters, Lucille, Lisa, Myra, Jacqueline, and their families. She will also be remembered by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her father John (Jack) Amy. Born July 9, 1954, Barb was raised in Darlingford, MB and moved to Winnipeg upon completing high school. Her career was spent at Manitoba Hydro where she made many long-lasting friendships. A consummate hostess, she loved to entertain and would delight guests with her adventurous culinary choices. She was very musically gifted and enjoyed playing the piano and singing in many choirs. Following retirement, she was an active member of the Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg, applying her organizational and negotiating skills as their recital chair, and securing talented performers for their concert series. She loved movies, never tiring of her top 10 favourites, and was an avid fan of curling and tennis, especially Roger Federer. Barb and Bill were married in 1975, Jessica was born in 1986 and Paul in 1989. She loved nothing more than spending time with her talented kids, loving husband, and of course, her dog Ajax. Barb was the most generous and kind person, and we will miss her so much. Thank you to all the compassionate people at CancerCare who helped during Barb's illness. Special thanks to Dr. Seftel, Kevin, Sherese, Tamara, Dawn, all the nurses in Clinic 3, the Hematology staff and the Health Sciences Centre staff on GD-6. You are amazing people. A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota St. on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barb's name to CancerCare Manitoba. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Loraine and I were so shocked and saddened by this disturbing news that Barb had lost her fight with Cancer. :( We have known Bill and Barb for many years through our work and singing together for the United Church in Meadowood. Barb had helped so many folks in our choir, as a gifted musical leader. I remember many special moments when, Barb's daughter Jessica joined her mother, in our choir, and made that performance MAGICAL! I can share that not only did Barb donate tons of time to our United Church, so did Bill! These gifts of time and talents to their church, did NOT go un-noticed, in the eyes of God. I know that the Angels in Heaven have been instructed by GOD, to offer Barb the very best services in Heaven! Our prayers, are added to the many prayers, from your friends within the United Church in Meadowood, and we direct them for the healing grace from Jesus Christ, for Bill, Jessica, and Paul. Barb is the latest Angel in Heaven, now. God Bless Your Family; Doug Purdey - Posted by: Doug and Loraine Purdey (Church Friends from UCiM) on: Jul 20, 2018
