VIRGINIA LELAY August 12, 1930 - July 16, 2018 Virginia Taganayon Lelay entered heaven on July 16, 2018 at the age of 87. Though her life was filled with challenge, she remained ever strong in her Catholic faith. As a young widow with three children, she emigrated from her home in the Philippine Islands to Winnipeg, Canada, where she raised her children and helped raise her grandchildren. With a modest education, she was very successful in life. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Jose Lelay, parents, two brothers and three sisters, and Calvin Lee, her loving grandson. She will be tremendously missed by her daughters, Amelita (Amy) and husband Art Camaclang, Winnipeg; Aida and husband Dr. Gerald Wiest, San Antonio, Texas; and her only son JoJo Lelay and his lifelong companion Nick, Winnipeg; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many, Virginia always openly showed her belief in the goodness of mankind and a deep love of God. Until we meet again. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Fred Douglas Nursing Home, as well as the close friends who provided exceptional care and support in Virginia's final years of her life. Lamay will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. with interment and reception to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • My deepest sympathy to Joe and his family. Your mom was such a sweet lady. I had the pleasure of spending time with her while doing her hair. Joe, the love and dedication that you showed to your mom was beautiful. Every mother dreams of having a son with a heart like yours. I know that your memories of your mother will keep her with you always. Marcel. - Posted by: Marcel McRae (Hair dresser at Fred Douglas Lodge) on: Jul 27, 2018
