WITHOLD MESSERSCHMIDT October 17, 1936 - July 15, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Victor (Withold) Messerschmidt on July 15, 2018. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Mildred; and his daughters, Lisa and Rena and sons-in-law, Doug and Elwood; plus relatives in Germany. Born in Romania, he came to Canada in 1957 and had a wonderful career as a machinist, including 27 years at CP Rail, Weston Shops. A celebration of life will be held at the CFB Winnipeg Chapel at 2235 Silver Aveue on Tuesday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

  • I'm sorry to hear of Victor passing.I am also sorry that I missed His memorial. Since I don't read the paper... Last time we met was at Rudy Folger's funeral. We knew each others since we started at CPR a month a part in 1973.he was a real good men. A very good machinist and a very good friend. Dear Mildred and family, my deepest condolences for your loss.   • Victor was a real-life MacGyver that helped my family out an immeasurable number of times. It was just who he was; selfless, humble and always there with a creative solution to any mechanical or household problem that might arise. He will always hold a special place in my heart, with fond memories of him sitting at our kitchen table having cookies and coffee on many a weekend morning. Will miss you Vic.
