CLIFFORD FILBERT August 7, 1931 - August 6, 2018 Following a two and a half year battle with cancer, Clifford went to heaven surrounded by the love and support of his family. Cliff was born in Winnipeg to loving parents, Conrad and Maria Filbert. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. He grew up on a farm in Ross, Manitoba. That is where he developed a strong work ethic, and a love of the outdoors. His occupation as a plasterer gave him a great sense of pride. He never really retired, he always had reno advice and while he was able a trowel in his hand. On July 24, 1954, Clifford embarked on one of the great journeys of life, a 64-year marriage to Jean Budolowski. Together they had three beautiful daughters, Kathy (Larry), Debbie (Ian) and Kelly (Perry). They were further blessed with grandchildren: Steven (Cara), Eric (Tanya), Cody (Jenna), Ryan (Gabrielle), Megan, Evan (Viviene), Kayla and Ashley, and two great-granddaughters, Layla and Kenzie. All who enjoyed building sand castles and making memories at Hillside Beach. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Place for their care and compassion. Particularly Dr. Sawchuck and nurses, Judith, Cory, Patricia and Theresa who treated Cliff like family. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing will be held a half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Association of Manitoba, CancerCare Manitoba, or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. • Mrs. Filbert, Kathy, Debbie & Kelly, I have just learned that Mr. Filbert has passed away. I am so very sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories growing up across the back lane from you. I remember the laughter & joking around with my Dad across the fence, and what a big tease he was to everyone he met. I remember how he used to take turns driving us girls to church choir practice. My thoughts & prayers are with you all. - Posted by: Leslie (Conn) Frischbutter (Former neighbor) on: Aug 23, 2018

  • Some of my fondest early memories of my Godfather Cliff was going over to their house for Christmas, and in that basement “rec room” as they called them then, stood the most wonderful tall, live tree, always touching the ceiling and of course on the glass serving platter was one of Cliff's favourite things... pickled herring. He would say in his booming voice, “Go ahead try it, it’s good”. To this day we still serve herring on the plater at Christmas in my own home. As a young boy I remember his work boots covered in plaster spots. It's funny what you remember. To me the guy was larger than life, hard working, good hearted and always had a robust love for life. He will continue to live on in his many projects completed throughout Manitoba. I’m going to miss him. I’ll watch for you on the beach. - Posted by: Donnie Slater (Godson ) on: Aug 08, 2018
