Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATIE CHUDY (nee KOLBUCK) February 3, 1928 - August 10, 2018 Katie Chudy passed away peacefully at the Fisher Branch Personal Care Home. Katie was born and raised in the Fisher Branch area and in 1946 she married Bohdan Chudy. They settled into their life together and Bud decided to try his hand at Mink Ranching. Hard work was a part of their everyday life but once they retired in 1980 they were finally able to start travelling. Florida, Mexico and Alaska were a few of their destinations. They were married for 54 years. Katie enjoyed gardening, was an excellent seamstress and loved to bake and cook. Family get-togethers always involved an amazing feast. Katie was involved in the community and recently received her 50 Years of Service Certificate from the Women's Institute. Katie was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Mary; a brother in infancy; granddaughter April McDonnell (1982); her son Ronald Chudy (1985); husband Bohdan Chudy (2000); niece Elizabeth Skuba (2017), and her brother John Kolbuck (2018). Katie is survived by her children, Buddy (Marlene) Chudy, Kathy (Lyall) McDonnell and David (Tannis) Chudy, daughter-in-law Judy Chequis, sister Anne Skuba, sister-in-law Elsie Kolbuck, as well as her grandchildren, Launey (David) Dilworth, Kristy (Rob) Cox, Chase (Janie) McDonnell, Bernadine (Charles) Kostyk, Brittany (Kevin) McDonnell, Scott Chequis, Santana (Bryton) Monkman, Horatio Chudy, and great-grandchildren, Rylan, Hanna, Taylor and Austin Dilworth, Dre and Jude McDonnell, Wyatt Cox and Aubrie Monkman. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the wonderful care Katie received at the Fisher Branch Personal Care Home. If so desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Fisher Personal Care Home. Private celebration of Katie's life and interment of her ashes will take place at a later date.

My condolences to the Chudy family on the passing of their mother Kay. I worked on the family mink ranch for a number of years in the early 60's along with Bud, Buddy, Ronnie and Mrs. Chudy (not to forget good ole Buster). Mrs Chudy was a driving force on the ranch, seemed to be everywhere doing everything, from working on the ranch, running a household, preparing lunches and meals, planting, tending and harvesting a huge garden. She also had a sixth sense of knowing when the odd bottle of her homemade wine sort of disappeared. Not to say Buddy and I knew anything about that or when also a certain new black Oldsmobile car would go for a drive all by itself in the middle of the night. Hmm?? She was a wonderful, hard working person who ran a tight ship and cared the utmost for her family. Larry Boyd Red Deer,Ab - Posted by: Larry Boyd (Friend) on: Aug 20, 2018

My deepest condolences on your loss. I have fond memories of Mrs. Chudy (never grew out of calling her that :)) and playing with Kathy. We would do "our chores" first, then we'd play. As we grew older, Kathy and I continued to be friends which continued to bring Mrs. Chudy into my world. Once I moved away and in later years, I reconnected with Mrs. C. at Christmas time when we would exchange cards. I would stop in for a visit when in the area visiting my family for a cup of coffee or tea with a dainty of sorts. She was a dear lady with a huge heart. To this day, I swear she had the cleanest home ever! My heart goes out to the family and hope that the fond memories of your Mom will soon fade the sadness of missing her. Big hugs to all, Bev (nee Boyd) - Posted by: Bev MacGillivray (Friend of the family) on: Aug 20, 2018
