THOMAS PETER BURKOWSKI May 7, 1954 - September 4, 2018 Thomas, fondly known as "Tommy", passed away suddenly, at home, at the age of 64 on September 4, 2018. An industrial millwright by trade, he had an affinity for machinery and loved to work with his hands, working for Carte International until recently. Tommy had a passion for gadgets, electronics and toys and would soften with certain people, especially his niece Caitlin, and let them play with his collection. He loved to be on the water when he could, whether that be sailing, parasailing or on a pontoon boat: a fondness he developed in sea cadets as a youth. His passion for physics, electronics and working with his hands often came together in many projects of his. He once helped his daughter Ashley build a Van de Graff generator for the elementary school science fair. He loved animals, especially his cat Kootts and the backyard birds he fed regularly. When he worked, he loved to turn on classic rock, especially Pink Floyd. His evenings at home were often taken up by Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Simpsons, The Nature of Things, PBS: Nova, Murdoch Mysteries and Bondi Vet. Tom was predeceased by his father, Edward Burkowski (1990) and his mother Christina Burkowski (2018). He leaves behind his daughter Ashley, brothers, William (Bill) and Robert (Bobby), and sisters, Nadena and Adeline. Tom requested no service and his ashes be scattered at his home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunshine House Managed Alcohol Program.
